There is an inherent human drive to make sense of the senseless, to perceive order where either none exists or the order is so complex that devised models hold up only under the most surface level scrutiny. Into this soup, profiteers and mystics offer answers, dispensing parental comfort to their prey.

elevators

Everyone hates people who press the wrong button on elevators, forcing unneeded stops during the claustrophobic journey. Why in God's name don't elevators have a standard function: press the button multiple times and it toggles on/off?
